At snake reckless speed
On a pillow she was born,
in the form of a worm,
silently - or unheard –
expulsed from the left ear
of her asleep half-deaf mother.
Slimily insinuating her way out
from a point of eternity,
a tiny despised thing
undulating on a pile of feathers.
Left to herself,
fragile, premature,
in search of a shelter,
she took refuge in an empty snail shell,
obstructing the entrance with cotton balls,
preventing cold and loneliness,
she incubated herself.
Coiled, limbless, eyeless, earless,
meekly breathing through her skin,
rocked fast asleep to the asymmetrical meters
of her five hearts pounding.
