To the Rhythm of the Midnight Waves is a poetic collection of short stories - simultaneously naïve, strange and surprising - linked to one another by recurring patterns, magical elements and the surreal logic of dreams.

The reader successively encounters love clouds swelling at the speed of sound, a sumptuous serendipitous scarabaeus, a ballet dancer swirling to the cadence of her ecstatic fits, a self-improvised blood-orange flying jellyfish, a premature worm undergoing seamless metamorphoses, and an enraptured discombobulated amnesic.

Each story is associated with carefully curated and reinvented illustrations from the 18th to the 20th Century. The fairytale like narrative bestows upon these images a new purpose and meaning. Reaching across time and space, cultures, sciences, astronomy, natural history and the arts, all the images are within the public domain and out-of-copyright.

Meticulously crafted, the result is an invitation to surrender to the swirl of colours, words and patterns, as they pulse and vibrate, blurring lines and drawing a dreamy, magical whole.
