When lines could be blurred

Once upon a time,
when boys were made of wood,
when girls were made of fire and summer heat,
when both sap and blood run fast and thick,
when dreams could breathe life on a piece of jewellery,
when love could rise loved ones like Phoenix from their ashes,
when lines between imaginary and real, inner and outer worlds,
or chance and fate,
could be - wittingly or magically - crossed, blurred, or simply erased,
lived a mysterious serendipitous scarabaeus.

Since as long as he could remember,
Phinnaeus haunted dreamers’ consciousness.
Sensing their hopes and innate desires,
appearing, hypnotically and intermittently,
emanating conspicuous peacefulness,
inescapably guiding the dreamers’ steps
through their own oneiric landscapes
on luxuriant, sumptuous, numerous paths.

Omen of wisdom, guided by the stars,
navigating marvellous dreamscapes,
crossing deserts of sand, rock or ice,
flying over the oceans across the sky,
walking through enchanted forests,
soothing dreamers’ distressed hearts.

Equally made of earth and air,
carved in precious gemstone,
blending like a chameleon to the colours of the dreamers’ minds,
from sapphire through emerald to ruby,
a sumptuous living piece of precious jewellery
consistently shining gold and silver light beams.

Phinnaeus, the mysterious serendipitous scarabaeus,
carried the life force of birth and rebirth,
leading dreamers on ostensibly initiatory rites,
following the rhythm of their booming hearts.
